Take a walk in a waterfall wonderland. The four and a half mile Ingleton Waterfalls Trail boasts some of the most spectacular waterfall and oak woodland scenery in the UK, truly encapsulating nature at its best. As a year-round attraction, you will have abundant opportunities to view seasonal landscapes and to experience a walk in a waterfall wonderland, whatever the weather. Ingleton Waterfalls Trail is an ideal day out amongst unspoilt surroundings for family and friends, and an opportunity for educational visitors to explore nature and geological features including Thornton Force that falls 14 metres over limestone. With rare and interesting plants and wildlife and its importance as a geological site, much of the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest by Natural England. You should allow between two and a half and four hours to complete, depending on your fitness levels and whether you are walking or strolling. Please note that for safety reasons the trail closes in extreme weather conditions. Please ring the ticket office for further information.
Whernside, Ingleborough, Pen-Y-Ghent. Standing at 723m or 2372 ft Ingleborough is the second highest mountain in Yorkshire. Along the northern and eastern edges of the plateau the remains of a wall, once believed to have been a Roman military camp but now known to be an Iron Age hill fort can be found. On a clear day the views from the top are truly breathtaking and well worth pausing to look at. Pen-y-Ghent is the smallest of Yorkshire’s Three Peaks standing at 694 m or 2277 feet. The ascent begins from the pretty Dales village of Horton-In-Ribblesdale and is approximately 3.1 miles in distance. Whernside whilst being the tallest of the Three Peaks is the easiest to climb. Standing at 736m or 2415 ft it shares its summit with borders of Cumbria. The ascent up Whernside begins at Ribblehead Viaduct – steeped in history and forming a spectacular backdrop.
White Scar Caves is a show cave in the civil parish of Ingleton, North Yorkshire, England, under Ingleborough in the Chapel-le-Dale valley of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is a solutionalresurgence cave formed in Carboniferous limestone, some 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) long.
